What are the benefits of using a derma roller?
Using a derma roller for the face can offer a range of skin-enhancing benefits, including:
● Collagen induction therapy — Derma rollers significantly stimulate the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production. As the skin heals from controlled micro-injuries, new collagen fibres are synthesised, resulting in improved skin texture, firmness and elasticity, as well as a visible reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
● Better product infusion — The tiny micro-channels and temporary openings in the epidermis created by the derma roller allow for better penetration of skincare products, maximising their effectiveness while reaching the deepest skin layers to optimise results. This process is often referred to as transdermal or intradermal delivery.
● Scar reduction therapy — Scars on the skin form when it undergoes an injury or trauma, leading to the overproduction of collagen fibres in the affected area. The excess collagen deposition results in the formation of a raised or depressed scar. Using a derma roller on the face helps address these concerns by initiating controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These trigger the release of collagen, resulting in a smoother and more uniform appearance of the scar. With continued use of a derma roller, this innovative skincare tool helps break down scar tissue, reducing the visibility of scars while promoting the growth of healthier, smoother and softer skin in the treated area.
● Improved pigmentation — Using a skin needling roller can reduce the appearance of pigmentation by promoting the turnover of skin cells, stimulating collagen production and enhancing the absorption of topical treatments. As new skin cells are generated, pigmentated and damaged cells are gradually replaced, resulting in a more even skin tone and a visible reduction in pigmentation. It's important to note that derma rolling for pigmentation concerns may require a series of treatment sessions to achieve desired results.
● Reduced skin aging — By promoting collagen production, improving skin texture, enhancing the effectiveness of skincare products and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, skin needling rollers can help turn back the clock on signs of aging. When applied immediately after derma rolling, serums, active ingredients, moisturisers and other age-maintenance products can penetrate deeper into the skin, maximising their efficacy. By addressing various aspects of skin aging, a derma roller can contribute to a more radiant and rejuvenated complexion.
● Fewer acne, pimples and enlarged pores — The micro-injuries created by a derma roller’s ultra-fine needles aid in the removal of dead skin cells and clogged pores, resulting in a clearer complexion. Additionally, the increased collagen production helps improve skin laxity, minimise the appearance of acne scars and reduce the size of pores for a smoother overall skin texture.
Warnings: Keep out of reach of children, do not use on irritated, broken, pustular or infected skins or if the devices sterile seal has been broken. Devices must not be shared.
Who shouldn't use a derma roller?
While skin-needling rollers can yield incredible transformative results, it's essential to consider your skin type before using this tool. A derma roller may be unsuitable if you have active skin infections, highly sensitive skin or open wounds.
